At the third consecutive weekend of competition for the 2012 Notts ASA British Gas County Championships, the Sherwood Colliery girls were in action in the 200m breaststroke events.

Olivia Slaney (10) swam a solid heat taking over 12 seconds off her personal best time to finish a very credible 12th overall in the 9/10yr age group.

However, her 10-year-old team mate, Libby Coleman, produced an impressive display in the same age group taking fourth place overall in a Midland Region event qualifying time of 3:25.14.

In the 11/12yr category, Jade Young (11), continued her medal-winning streak by taking bronze in a Midland Region event qualifying time of 2:58.41 and Hannah Carnell (13), just pipped her team mate, Esme Wood (13), to a finals placing by a fraction of a second to finish sixth overall in the 13yr age group.

Mansfield Swimming Club’s girls also did themselves proud in the 200 breaststroke.

Abbie Scott swam a time of 3.56.25, 11 secs faster than her previous best and still leading the championships in her age group.

Hollie-Mae Dove, Natalee Meldrum and Jess Armsby all produced solid swims and Jess Howarth and Charlotte Baguley swam personal bests.

Alice Tuska and Abigail Watson had a fantastic race between them, with both achieving best times.

The next round of the competition takes place over the weekend of 3rd and 4th March at Water Meadows, Mansfield.
