SELSTON swimming sensation Molly Renshaw put in a stunning swim to qualify for the World Championships in China next month.
The 15 year-old clocked an impressive time of 2:27.67 at the British National Swimming Championships to seal second spot in the 200m breastroke behind winner Stacey Tadd.
Talented Molly, who is a pupil at Selston Arts and Community College, will now take to the pool in Shanghai between 16th and 31st July where she hopes to claim World Glory.
Molly currently swims for the Derventio eXcel squad - Derbyshire’s elite group of swimmers - and has steadily built up her reputation with a host of eye-catching swims.
Delighted mum Jane said: “Molly is looking good at the moment and she is really excited about competiting at the World Championships.
“I am very proud of her and we are all hoping Molly can continue to develop like she has done in the past year.”
Hopes are now high that the gifted teen swimmer will improve on her personal best time by half a second to meet the expected qualifying time for Olympic selection.
Jane added: “Molly is still young and a lot can happen between now and the Olympics so we will just have to see what happens and take each day as it comes.”
“Molly currently trains around eight times a week and fits it in around her schoolwork, which is testing for her.
“At the moment all her hardwork in the pool is paying off and she is building up more and more experience in competitive racing.”
