MANSFIELD Triathon Club sent a five-strong cohort to try out the inaugural 4 Life Tri Junior Open Water Triathlon at Holme Pierrepont.

Most junior triathlons are pool-based, so the open water swim proved to be an exciting challenge for the junior athletes.

Kieran Smith and Fleur Beilby represented the club in the TriStar 1 races, finishing in 20:39 and 24:41 respectively. In the boys’ TriStar 2, Jim Walker crossed the line in 29:21 while Nathan Roome completed in 34:33 in the boys’ TriStar 3 event. Jordan Boam completed the youth open water Aquathlon in 23:56, which was good enough for fourth place.

It was a double celebration in the Stott household when Mansfield Tri Juniors triathletes Cameron and Finlay Stott both achieved podium places in the Kimbolton Triathlon.

In the TriStart race Finlay took silver in 9:12. Meanwhile big brother Cameron, competing in the TriStar 2 event, finished in 20:47 to claim third place. Fleur Beilby ran in seventh in a time of 16:52 in the girls’ TriStar 1 race.
