Mansfield husband and wife duo take first and second at Peak District Triathlon

Mansfield husband and wife duo Hannah and Chris Shooter took first and second in age category at the inaugural Peak District Triathlon at Chatsworth.

The region’s newest sprint distance race consists of a 750m open-water swim, 20km cycle leg and 5km run held the beautiful surroundings of Chatsworth House in the Peak District.

Hannah completed the hilly route in 1 hour and 18 mins for first in age group and second lady overall, whilst Chris finished in 1.20 to take second in category in his best ever race finish.

Neither are new to performing well in the sport; Hannah won gold in Spain in 2011 when she represented GB in the ITU Triathlon World Championships and Chris recently celebrated his return to racing with a fourth in category in the East Midlands Series.

The club’s junior section was in action at Beaver Castle achieveing a 1st, 2nd and 4th in category in cold, wet and windy conditions.

In the TriStart event Daisy Wilson took 2nd in category in 15 mins and 53 secs.

Matthew Woodhall was 4th in TriStar 1 in a time of 16 mins and 26 secs closely followed by Joshua Harkin-Figeira (20.37) and Bradley Shepherd (21.43).

In the TriStar 2 race Kieran Smith was first in 20 mins and 1 sec with Sam Marsh coming home in 26.45.

The club’s line-up was completed by Aaron Chambers-Smith who completed the youth race in just 27 mins and 29 secs.

In the adult half ironman distance race Sally Hughes finished the 1.9km swim, 74km bike leg and 20km run in the impressive time of 4 hours, 52 mins and 2 secs.

At the NHS Bolton Sprint Triathlon Deb Kerry achieved 1 hour and 25 mins. Carl Jordan and Jordan Boam were in action at Hucknall Triathlon finishing in 1.04.05 and 1.04.20 respectively.

The Shooters were busy again at Southport Marine Lake Triathlon with Chris completing the Olympic distance race in 2 hours, 19 mins and Hannah finishing the sprint in 1.08 along with Chris Holmes, racing for Mansfield Triathlon Club, who qualified for Team GB in a time of 1.06.

Chris Holmes was also in action at the Southglade Aquathlon where he achieved a time of 25 mins and 10 secs for the 400m swim and 5km run.

Finally, Chris Clarke represented the club at the Barton Marina Triathlon posting a time of 1 hour, 12 mins and 49 secs in the sprint distance race
