Mansfield Harriers’ Bethany Williams won the U17 ladies race at the third stage of the North Midlands Cross Country League races at Shipley Park in Heanor. It was the first time Beth had won and shows her continued development as she gets closer to senior competition.
Backing Beth in the race Emma Beeson, who finished in a creditable 15th.
At U15 level May Roberts had another strong run coming seventh and is now second overall after three events.
Amanda Hardy was the only competitor in the ladies race, finishing 48th, and is in a prime position to win her age group in the league.
There were also great runs from Alex Rieley and Cam Walker in the U17 men with Alex finishing third to leave him second in the league.
Cam had his best run of the winter to finish fourth.
Matthew Woodhall had another good run in the U11 race, completing the run in 14th.
The club had eight in the men’s race and Mark Johnson had another storming run to finish sixth overall and way ahead in his age category. He was backed up by Alan Smith in 26th and Philip Martin Shaw in 74th as they chase the age group category victory.
Lewis Ashmore had an excellent first senior race as he finished in 34th.
He was backed up by Stephen Davies 119th, Jon Hardy in 163rd and Julian Wood in 181.
