Jordan Boam takes silver for Mansfield Triathlon Club in national championships

Mansfield Triathlon club’s Jordan Boam took silver in Triathlon England’s National Duathlon Championships held at Newby Hall in Yorkshire.

Jordan completed the 10km run, 40km bike and final 5km run in 2 hours, 27 mins, 42 secs.

The result sees him continue his recent run of excellent form as he builds towards his international duties in 2015 when he represents GB in the European Duathlon Championships.

In the hotly contested East Midlands Junior Series Mansfield Triathlon Club currently sits third out of 16 clubs thanks to a series of outstanding performances in the opening two races.

At the RAF Scampton duathlon the club fielded 16 athletes and secured four podium finishes.

In the TriStart races Daisy Wilson took 3rd in the girls’ race, finishing in 9 mins, 56 seconds and for the boys Jack Mottram took 3rd in 8 mins, 48 secs. In the boys’ TriSat 1 race Matthew Woodhall was 2nd in 14 mins, 50 secs, followed by Henry Osborne (16 mins, 29 secs), Joshua Harkin-Figueira (17 mins, 18 secs), Bradley Shepherd (17 mins, 34 secs), Ben Marsh (18 mins, 10 secs) and Oliver Mason (19 mins, 40 secs) whilst in the girl’s category Nicole Hamilton completed the course in 19 mins, 20 secs. Kieran Smith took 2nd in the TriStar 2 boy’s race (22 ins, 53 secs) with Ben Marsh coming home in 26 mins, 18 secs. The girls TriSat 3 were represented by Rebecca Hamilton who finished in 34 mins, 37 secs.

In the Youth category Emelia Osborne finished in 51 mins, 50 secs for the girls and the boys were represented by Nathan Roome (44 mins, 57 secs), Chris Green (45 mins, 38 secs) and Callum Ball in 57 mins, 35 secs. For the adults Andy Ball finished in 1 hour, 13 ins, 18 secs.

Seventeen raced for the club at the Prestwold duathlon, securing three podium places. Jack Mottram took 2nd place in the boys’ TriStart race in 8 mins, 50 secs and for the girls Daisy Wilson finished in 10 mins, 8 secs and in her first series race Sophie Lagoe finished strongly in 11 mins, 6 secs. In the boys’ TriStar 1 Matthew Woodhall was 2nd in 12 mins, 10 secs with Joshua Harkin-Figueira (13 mins, 57 secs), Henry Osborne (14 mins, 1 sec), Bradley Shepherd (14 mins, 6 secs), Ben Marsh (15 mins, 43 secs) and Oliver Mason (15 mins, 55 secs) completing the line up for the club. In the girls’ race Nicole Hamilton finished in just 15 mins, 15 secs.

For the TriStar 2 boys Kieran Smith was 2nd in 18 mins, 40 secs followed by Ben Marsh in 22 mins, 59 secs. Aaron Chambers-Smith (28 mins, 36 secs) and Jim Walker (33 mins, 26 secs) represented the TriStar 3 boys with Rebecca Hamilton (36 mins, 31 secs) racing in the same category for the girls.

In the Youth category Emelia Osborne (46 mins, 10 secs) raced for the girls and Chris Green (41 mins, 38 secs) represented the boys. Mark Walker completed the adult race finishing in 1 hour, 24 mins, 19 secs.
