Samworth Church Academy’s Ethan Davis has won a gold medal in his category at the ‘British Moguls Championships’ coming seventh overall in the competition.

Ethan’s busy summer season saw him complete the Kumi Yama competition in Les Deux Alps France coming third, which led to his selection to be a part of the England Freeski Squad where he will train for potential selection to the GB squad representing his country.

Ethan said: “The feeling of winning the gold medal was awesome, I knew I had skied well, but the others in my category had also skied well. When the scores were announced it was amazing and I felt ecstatic to know I had come first, coming seventh overall.”

But Ethan is not resting on his laurels, his training and dedication will be maintained for further challenges ahead.

He said: “I will be continuing with my training on and off the slope in the UK. I am also going to Hintertux (Austria) on 12th October for two weeks to train with the GB Junior Squad. I will be taking part in as many competitions as possible and looking forward to doing the British Championships in Tignes, France next March.”

Melanie Cooper, vice principal at Samworth Church Academy, said that Ethan was a credit to the Academy.

“We are extremely proud of Ethan and the success he has experienced through his hard work and dedication.

“We always ask our students to ‘be the best that that you can be’ and he is certainly striving for this,” she said.

“ How amazing to be faced with the chance to be selected for the GB team.”
