Glorious haul of medals for Mansfield Swimming Club at county championships

Proud Mansfield Swimming Club covered themselves in glory when sending a talented squad to the Nottinghamshire ASA County Championships, held over two weekends.

A total of 18 swimmers contested a variety of races against the cream of the county in the 50m pool at the Harvey Hadden complex in Nottingham. And they celebrated a haul of three victories, six runners-up spots and two third places, as well as a fantastic total of 117 personal-best (PB) times.

The wins were achieved by Rhys Taylor in the 100m breastsrroke, Kiera Shepherd in the 50m freestyle and Benjamin Rees in the 50m breaststroke. Taylor also bagged four seconds (50m breaststroke, 400m individual medley, 200m breaststroke and 50m butterfly) and a third (200m individual medley), while Rees also finished second in the 50m freestyle. Meanwhile Lewis Meade was second in the 100m backstroke and third in the 50m freestyle. Thirteen Mansfield swimmers made the top eight, and finalists also included Charlotte Baguley, Mason Brown, Tyler Brown, Amelia Hargrave, Charlie-May Meade, Brendan O’Keefe, Lewes Shorthose, Bailey Slater and Evie Wilson. Coach Barry Tindall was delighted to see the youngsters’ dedication shine through.
