Front nine hell sees Greg miss Californian cut

Greg Owen, pictured above, will look back at the front nine at the Riviera Country Club in California with no love whatsoever.

In last week’s Northern Trust Open the Coxmoor Golf Club star started his first round at the 10th hole and after an opening nine he reach the turn in a respectable level par lead.

But over the following nine holes he dropped seven shots to par to end any hope he had of making the cut.

After he had shot a three over par second round he packed his bags and went home for the rest of the week.

Owen is due to fly down to Mexico for the Mayakoba Golf Classic, while the world’s top 64 players are taking part in the WGC Accenture World Match Play Championship in Arizona.

As Coxmoor returned to action after the break for snow and ice the First Division of the Wednesday Medal was won by Wesley Small after a countback from John Bray, Steve Chambers and Joe Caunt, all with nett 71 with Clive Graham returning the best scratch round of 76.

Division Two was won by G. Wilkes after a countback from Craig Marriott, both with nett 73.
