Following the success of Farnsfield Bowling Club’s Golden Anniversary celebrations last year when members from other friendly bowls clubs took part in an Invitation Tournament, a repeat invitation saw 14 teams take part again this year.
Three teams from Farnsfield played teams from around the county.
The event format had teams of four players each playing in Fours, Triples, Pairs and Singles throughout the day and tested the all-round skills of the bowlers as well as their fitness.
This all-day event again resulted in a closely-fought contest and, amazingly, the winners and runners-up were from Portland BC and Jacksdale BC - the same clubs as last year.
l Thoresby Welfare bowls club had a good turnout for their annual four woods open pairs competion, held on the club’s green in Edwinstowe.
The weather was wet and windy but 24 pairs braved the elements to provide a thrilling tournament with A. Marriott and R. Power defeating P. Bingham and M. Copeland in the final.
The sun finally appeared and the presentations were made by sponsors Brian Hawkins and Ron Mapletoft in front of an appreciative audience.
