Development team lose out as ladies impress

A much-improved display could not prevent Ashfield’s development squad - for whom Robert Kirk and Andrew Taylor went over - slipping to a 15-12 defeat to East Retford’s seconds.

Ashfield Ladies posted an impressive 38-14 success over Longton Ladies, avenging a defeat in the reverse fixture.

Lydia Alesbrook-Bowen touched down twice and was joined among the tries by captain Mandy Taylor, Eira Byre and Trish Hart.

Ashfield under-15s recovered from a slow start to defeat Rotherham 54-12. Bradshaw led the way with four tries, while Moore (2), Mallinson, Lamont, Wright and Layton grabbed the others.

Adam Gibson was man of the match as Ashfield under-14s fought back bravely, only to lose out 24-17 at Lincoln.

Ashfield under-11s were rampant at Long Eaton with Coby Warren (8), Logan Stokes (4), Adam Waterhouse (3), Bradley Freemen (2), Thomas Scothern, Teddy Bartlett and Callum Baker all scoring.

Ashfield girls under-15s side racked up a 78-14 triumph at Burton as Megan Warsop (5), Lucy Payne (2), Laura Elliott, Jess Armsby, Brianny Leivers, Paige Baker, Holly Felton, Tilly Griffiths and Abbie Lebeau led the charge.
