Mansfield driver Ryan Smith topped the podium when truck racing returned to the iconic circuit of Silverstone in Northamptonshire for the first time in 26 years.
Smith won the second round of the British Truck Racing Championship and is now one of three drivers separated by just nine points in the race for the title.
The division one trucks competed in no fewer than six races, creating some fantastic bumper-to-bumper action. And Smith was in fine form from the off, even though he had to rush to fix and fit a new gearbox for his One Call Insurance-sponsored MAN truck.
He recorded the fastest lap in the opening race and after two fourth places, he was then a close second, beaten by less than half a second, before winning the superfinal after a collision between two of his closest rivals, Stuart Oliver and David Jenkins, that forced both off the Tarmac.
