Attacking play pleases Mansfield Town boss Adam Murray

The Stags created a host of chances, particularly in the first half at Sandy Lane, and Murray believes on another day the margin of victory could have been greater.

He said: “I thought it was another very good workout for us. I thought we played really well, especially first half when we had a lot of possession, and we worked out different ways to break them down.

“We should have had a lot more goals but we’re confident if we create chances the goals will come. With all due respect we could have had six or seven here today and we’ve got to keep playing the way we’ve been playing.

“We need to carry on creating opportunities and the end product will come. We had a lot of openings and I thought at times our decision making was good. Still loads to improve on but it was a good final game.”

Second half goals from Lee Collins, Chris Clements and Zayn Hakeem gave Stags the win after a goalless first 45 minutes in front of a crowd of 558.

“I think our organisation was more where I expected it to be today,” said Murray. “It’s the little things I’ve been looking at these past couple of weeks, we’ve got some really good players and it’s the little things that make a big difference.

“Our organisation and our patterns were really good today. It’s a lovely pitch but because there was a game on it last night it was a little bit sticky and slowed the game down a little bit.

“We showed we did have a ‘Plan B’ when we got into the forward areas and if we had anticipated a little bit better then I thought we would have got more goals.”
