Glapwell Football Club’s rescheduled Pink Game” in support of Breast Cancer Care kicks off at 3pm on Saturday 12th March at Hall Corner, Glapwell with every Glapwell player wearing specially designed pink shirts!
The game, which has been arranged in association with top class restaurant Lambs at the Market, was snowed off with the first blizzards in December. Thanks to support from many local businesses and the Evostick League the game, and its pink theme is set to raise over £1,000 for the charity.
Glapwell FC’s Operations Director, Bill Taylor said “We are really excited and delighted that this special game is going ahead and is set to raise lots of money for Breast Cancer Care. It was extremely disappointing to lose the original game at Field Mill to the weather but we know that our fans and many others will come out and support the Club and this great cause. The pink strip the lads will be wearing has been sponsored by 18 different local businesses and when we auction them off after the game we will make lots more money for the charity.”
In an attempt raise even more funds for the charity the Club is slashing the entrance for the game to a mere £2 for anyone attending in the hope that people will donate the rest of the normal entrance fee to the charity. Glapwell FC is working in partnership with Mansfield’s fine dining restaurant, Lambs at the Market to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care. The restaurant is organising several girls dressed in pink hot pants and T-shirts to be collecting donations at the game.
Also supporting the pink theme are Steve and Jacquie Fairbrother who run “A Purrfect Stretch”, a luxurious limousine hire company based in Mansfield. The Company is offering a prize of a one hour ride for up to eight people in the Hummer Limo as part of a raffle that will take place after the game on Saturday 12th March.
Pink Weddings and Parties of Westfield Lane, Mansfield will be decorating the Hall Corner clubhouse with pink balloons. Peppa Pig and Fifi will also be on hand to entertain the youngsters who will be able to have their photos taken with the two characters from 12-30pm onwards.
Glapwell FC has obtained special dispensation from the FA to allow it to feature individual sponsors’ information on each of the shirts which has allowed local businesses and organisations the chance to show their support for the cancer charity. To add extra colour to the day Trent Barton bus company has kindly offered to transport the away team and fans from Leek Town FC team on one of its pink Pronto busses free of charge.
Anyone planning on attending the game is being encouraged to wear something pink in support of the charity.
