Taylor takes the reigns at AFC Mansfield

NEWLY-formed AFC Mansfield have announced that ex-Shirebrook Town manager Micky Taylor is to take the reigns of the club for their inaugural season.

The club, formed by former Mansfield directors Steve Hymas, Andy Saunders and Darren Bland, will play out of Forest Town Welfare next season.

A spokesman said: “Micky will bring along some of his backroom staff and will look to make an impact in the Central Midlands Football League this season.

“Micky took Shirebrook to two cup final last term and will bring first hand experience to the club.

“He will look now to assemble a squad capable of looking for honours this season at this level as the club look to hit the ground running.

“Mickey will now be on the lookout for pre-season friendlies against local clubs in the area to develop the squad.”
