Shirebrook Town bowed out of this season’s FA Vase on a cold Saturday afternoon, losing 4-0 to St Andrews FC.
There were three changes from the previous week with cup-tied Johnson and Hargreaves unavailable and Greenfield unable to make the trip. Thompson, Hill and Shepherd all came in the the squad.
St Andrews started the game the better of the two teams, testing White in goal with Shirebrook struggling to get into the game. St Andrew took the lead in the 19th minute when Callum Earls curled his free kick round the wall and into the top corner.
It was White who came to Shirebrook’s rescue a number of times in the first half to stop the host extending their lead.
The best attack Shirebrook could muster was close to half time when Matty Ord got into the box and crossed to Rowley who lost his footing before he could get his shot away.
The second half was no different with St Andrews dominating the play and they extended there advantage in the 50th-minute when Sam Preston smashed his shot into the net.
St Andrews all but wrapped the game up in the 80th-minute when Luay Bashir was the one to put the ball in the net and with Shirebrook still struggling to mount an attack.
They were finally put out of their misery in injury time when Ryan Dickinson scored to end what had been a very disappointing afternoon at Shirebrook.
Shirebrook were back in action on Tuesday night with a long trip to Knaresborough Town before Hallam FC visit Langwith Road on Saturday, November 28 (3pm kick off).
