Following a shoulder injury to Sam Johnson, which is likely to keep him out for up to three weeks, Alfreton Town have signed nineteen-year-old goalkeeper George Willis on emergency loan from Sheffield United.
He is a product of United’s Academy system, and was a regular for the Blades U21s last season, whilst he was also an unused substitute for the first-team on several occasions.
Described as a tremendous shot-stopper with excellent distribution skills, United boss Nigel Clough is keen to get the former England Youth international into a first-team environment to gain him some important experience.
He spent a month with Vanarama Conference North side Bradford Park Avenue recently and made his Alfreton debut in the 3-2 home win over Eastleigh.
Willis has been handed squad number one during his stay at the Impact Arena.
In a season blighted by bad luck and injuries, Willis incredibly became the sixth different keeper used so far by Alfreton before Christmas.
