Ollerton Town in nervous wait to find out if they are promoted

High-riding Ollerton Town consolidated second spot in the Central Midlands League's North Division with a 3-0 home win over Thorne Colliery in their penultimate match of the season.

The result ensured that they will finish above their promotion rivals, Harworth. Now it’s a case of fingers crossed as they wait to see if they pass their ground-grading which would enable them to go up.

Ollerton failed to hit top gear and struggled to break down a Thorne side who could field only ten players and set up with two banks of five. They bagged the lead in the 15th minute when Danny Wiltshire headed in from close range after a scramble. But not until the last 15 minuites did they seal the points, courtesy of goals from Chris Hewitt and Ben Bowring. Hewitt should have struck again, only to see a penalty, awarded for a foul on Lewis Bingham, saved by ‘keeper Michael Teale.
