Turmoil goes on as crisis club Glapwell FC quit league

Glapwell Football Club have resigned from the Evo-Stick League as the row over their ground lease continues.

The club held an EGM last Thursday to discuss the club’s future.

After considering the issues surrounding the club’s membership, it was decided that Glapwell would withdraw from the league with immediate effect.

A club spokesman said: “The decision has been made with sadness, but in the best interests of all the management, backroom and playing staff, who have remained so loyal to the club and contributed so much in recent times.

“The legal action to determine the matter of their ground licence will start next week with an interim hearing in the Nottingham County Court.”

The club now plan to regroup next season in the Abacus Lighting Central Midland League and are already advertising for a new manager.

Last week Chad reported how Glapwell Parish Council wants to revoke the football club’s licence to use Hall Corner as it wants the land to become an open park for local community use.
