Shirebrook go into the new season looking to build on last season’s fourth place finish.

After a summer of change which saw a new management team appointed with Chris Millington being appointed boss at Langwith Road.

He joined from local rivals Clipstone FC, and after guiding them to the NCEL Division One title last season hopes are high that he can repeat last seasons. success he brings with him Steve Whitehead and Chris Bullock as his management team.

With a new manager means a new team, with only two players remaining from last season.

In the squad there are plenty of new faces at Langwith Road, among the new faces are Jamie Smith who scored 30 goals in all competitions last season for Clipstone and he will partnered up front with Lee Whittington, who arrives at the club from NCEL Premier club Handsworh Parramore.

Whittington having scored 20 goals last season, Shirebrook have goals in the team, but as they say attack win you games but your defense win you titles. Shirebrook will hope that is no difference with new club captain Rich Mintoft joining from Clipstone and he will be partnered at the back by Paul Sykes, a veteran of over a 1000 professional games he joins the club from fellow NCEL Division One side AFC Emley.

And the new look side appears to be coming together well if pre season results are to go by with Shirebrook having won three and lost one of the four games played so far.

Confidence should be high going into the first game of the new season away to Penistone Church.
