South Normanton got off to a good start as they defeated Holbrook St Michael’s 3-1.
The Shiners hit the front on 23 minutes when Ben Greenhalgh dribbled the ball to the edge of the six yard box before scoring.
That was the best of the action in what was a scrappy and forgetful first half.
After the break it stayed scrappy, but Thomas Leighton found a piece of brilliance to score the Shiners second, on 76 minutes.
Holbrook gave themselves hope three minutes later when the Shiner’s skipper caught the ball with his chest to put the ball in his own net.
But Ben Greenhalgh finished the game off to bag his second of the game and confirm the win for South Normanton.
