Rainworth’s final pre-season friendly on Saturday ended with a 2-0 defeat against was Midland League Premier Division side Heanor Town.

Despite the loss, Rainworth can take a lot of positives from a very close and competitive game.

Rainworth had the better of the first half and probably went into half-time disappointed that they weren’t in front, with Lewis Chambers going close on a couple of occasions and Lewis Bingham impressive..

The second half was evenly contested, but it was Heanor Town that took the spoils as a result of Kieran Debrouwer (59 minutes) and former Wren Jack Hawkins (66 minutes) converting their chances.

Whilst HeanorTown left with the victory, Rainworth will be well pleased with their performance in what was only the sixth game together and with a number of players still unavailable.
