Since Teversal joined the Baris Northern Counties East League for the 2005-06 season, games with Worsbrough have always been good entertaining affairs with neither side managing to dominate the other.

On Saturday, with both sides having made arguable one of their best starts to the season for many seasons, the loyal followers was again treated to another excellent game.

Teversal couldn’t have wished for a better start when Eli Mitchell caused problems down the left flank before picking out an inch perfect cross that found Dave Cockerill who calmly finished from eight yards after three minutes to give the visitors the lead.

Worsbrough were not to be out done and only a minute later Scott Turner unleashed a stunning 30 yard drive that saw Wilson make an equally impressive full length dive to tip the effort over the wide of the goal.

On 11 minutes though the home side was level in a fortunate manner. Chris White found himself with time and space out on the left flank, when Harcourt was left stranded to close down the wide man, but White had the time and space to drive a cross that turned into a shot leaving Wilson no chance as the ball swung into the stanchion at the far post to level the scores.

Three minutes later, again Harcourt found himself again stranded with White having the time to collect the ball before attacking the by-line to deliver the perfect near post cross that invited his skipper Lee Garside to powerfully head home to turn the advantage in the home side’s favour.

Both sides created further opportunities, with Turner hitting another effort from distance for the Briggers and then the visitor’s sustained a period of pressure from a corner, Mitchell delivered a low cross to the far post that Meachan was only inches away from getting the telling touch to level.

The equaliser did arrive though on 20 minutes when an excellent passing move up the hill saw Dickinson attacking the home defence with options available, selecting to play a pass that allowed Mitchell to take the ball in his stride and place the ball past the advancing Jenkinson to make it 2-2.

Both sides created opportunities without taking control of the game and going into the half time break with neither of the sides having done enough to take an advantage at this point in the game.

The second half continued in the same entertaining manner, but in this period the goal mouth action was restricted to the last 20 minutes with the visitors looking the most likely side kicking down the slope with Dave Cockerill hitting a free kick to the far post where Harcourt’s header was denied by a Jenkinson save.

The resulting corner saw Dave Cockerill head against the bar and with a second effort saw a Worsbrough defender somehow block the effort on the line.

In true tradition, Worsbough hit straight back with White again getting in behind Harcourt to fire a low effort that Wilson saved at the foot of his near post.

That turned out to be a warning for the visitors that went unheeded when from a Teversal corner Worsbrough defended solidly to then break out and explore the spaces that the visitors had left chasing the victory. With Broadbent breaking down the left before his effort was saved by Wilson and the near post with the ball spinning out to Chris White to bundle the 83rd minute winner home.

Teversal pressured to save the game, at the cost of leaving themselves open to conceding a further goal, but even with four added minutes the visitors had to leave with nil points from an excellent game that also had a third team that was excellent on the day, that was Referee Steve Holroyd and his two Assistants Howard Young and Ian Cox.

Teversal’s next outing is in the Baris Northern Counties East League, Division One with a trip to Knaresborough Town on Tuesday (16th October), with a 7:45pm kick off. Then on Saturday (20th October) Albion Sport visit Carnarvon Street for a 3pm kick off.
