Matlock begin their pre season programme on Thursday with the annual visit of Chesterfield in the Autoworld Cup.

The match has been brought forward by five days at Chesterfield’s request.

Dean Saunders will be in charge of the Spireites for the first time, which should ensure a healthy crowd at the Autoworld Arena.

“We’re all looking forward to the game and having football back again” said Matlock Chairman Tom Wright.

“We’re hoping for good weather on Thursday and with that a good crowd, so we’d ask supporters to get to the ground in good time to avoid any congestion at the turnstiles.

“Parking will be available on the cricket field next to the pitch which should help things considerably.”

The remainder of Matlock’s pre-season programme sees further home games with Belper Town on Tuesday July 21 (7.30pm) and Sheffield United on Tuesday July 28 (7.45 pm) and away matches at Handsworth Parramore on Saturday July 18 (3 pm), Ossett Albion on Saturday August 1 (2 pm) and Shaw Lane Aquaforce on Saturday August 8 (3 pm).
