RAINWORTH MW manager Kevin Gee has completed the signing of Sheffield striker Matt Glass, but has parted company with veteran defender Chris Timons.
Glass arrives with a proven goalscoring record with Alfreton Town, Grantham Town and Worksop Town before moving to Sheffield, and is seen as a prize recruitment.
Delighted Gee said: “Matt Glass is a player that I’ve tried to sign for a number of years but for different reasons never managed to secure his signature but I’m delighted that he’s decided to come to Rainworth.
“He featured in a lot of games at Sheffield this season but has found opportunities to push back into the firstt team restrictive so I approached Mark Shaw at Sheffield as to his position and he allowed me to speak to Matt who decided to join us.
“I must thank both Mark and Sheffield Club for waiving the seven day ruling. I hope that they have a successful remaining season and our relationship between the clubs continues to grow.”
Gee also paid tribute to the departing Timons while explaining his departure.
He added: “I had along chat with Chris last weekend about various things within the club and it was decided mutually and amicably after consideration from both sides that Chris would leave the club.
“However, being the true professional that he his he helped us out at Romulus on Monday due to injuries and put in a terrific performance.
“I’m sure Chris will move into the management side of the game over the next couple of years and I’m sure he will make his mark there too.
“However, I have to keep improving the strength and depth of the squad and I’m hopeful that there will be a few more additions over the next few weeks that will only improve our overall squad.”
