ALFRETON Town have signed striker Ben Tomlinson on a two-year deal from Blue Square Bet Premier Division rivals Macclesfield Town for an undisclosed fee.
Macclesfield signed him from Worksop Town where he had been a prolific goalscorer.
The fee was in the region of £30,000 which took him from the Tigers to Macclesfield last summer and he was the Silkmen’s leading scorer with five goals by the end of October including the fastest-ever Macclesfield Town goal in 6.4 seconds against Morecambe.
He unfortunately then fractured his ankle and was out for nearly four months before coming back for an injury crisis and suffered a relapse after just 45 minutes.
He came back in for the final few games of the season and scored at Northampton but wasn’t fully fit and struggled before a change of manager saw him slip back out of the running.
He ended last season with six goals but only played half of the campaign and played half of that at well under full fitness.
Tomlinson (22) is the third striker to be signed by Reds boss Nicky Law in two days and the eighth new face to arrive at the Impact Arena this summer.
Yester day Law brought in strikers Tom Denton and Iyseden Christie as well as young midfielder Alastair Taylor.
