AFC Mansfield face an FA Vase replay at Alsager Town on Tuesday night following a 1-1 draw at the weekend.

After missing a host of chances throughout the game The Bulls thought they had thrown it away when Jordan Johnson drove the ball across Jason White and into the right hand corner on 88 minutes.

But, with the clock ticking down, player-coach Ryan Williams brought the sides level with hit a stinging drive into the top right hand corner to signal extra time.

Captain Dean Rick had the first chance of the game firing over from 15 yards.

Liam Shaw responded in kind on nine minutes as he dragged his effort wide from the edge of the box.

The Bulls enjoyed long periods in the opposition half and Williams volleyed over the bar from a Jimmy Ghaichem cross on 11 minutes, before Luke Jeffs put his shot over the bar on 19 minutes.

Rick should have put the home side in the lead on 28 minutes, but he hit the side netting after a threaded pass from Jeffs.

The game then got a bit fractious with some meaty challenges going in from both sides, which was handled well by referee Lee Freeman.

The second half never lived up to the expectations people had and the game looked to be heading for extra time in a limp wristed fashion.

Substitute Jordan Johnson who had made himself a nuisance since coming on finally got the yellow card he deserved after numerous infractions.

Johnson thought he he’d had the final word though when he fired past White.

But with time fast running out the ball fell to Williams who hit a superb half volley leaving Chris Fletcher grasping for air as the ball nestled in the top corner.

The better chances fell to AFC Mansfield in the opening period of extra-time, with Williams hitting another drive narrowly wide of the target.

Alsager were reduced to 10 men on 99 minutes when substitute Ryan Connor took exception to a strong challenge from Danny Naylor and kicked out twice at the midfielder in full view of the referee leaving him little choice.

The second period saw Jonathon Jones hit the foot of the post on 108 minutes.

The final chances of the game fell to The Bulls Craig Mitchell saw his goa-lbound effort superbly turned around the post by Fletcher with Grant Allott heading the subsequent corner wide.

Dean Rick will be wondering how he missed the last chance of the game when he hit the post from just four yards out.
