Mansfield Town fans have directed their anger at referee Darren Deadman after his controversial penalty cost them a point at Wycombe.

Stags’superb first half display earned them nothing as they were knocked back by a contentious penalty decision and ultimately lost it to Peter Murphy’s 77th minute winner.

Referee Deadman gave the home side a 30th minute spotkick after ruling Martin Riley had handled the ball, which changed the game.

Writing on www.chad.co.uk, Amber Andy said: “I hope the doubters show some restraint because it sounds that we were robbed of at least a point due to a bad decision by the ref. COYS.”

Skegby Mick said: “Sounds as though we should have been 3 up before the Ref decided WW could do with a little help!”

Brian 52 wrote: “don,t no were ref got pen from as no one was in the box he blew and then went to spot and stood on it he was also 100% homer.”

McVane added: “Very disappointed not to get at least a point when we were clearly so much on top in the first half, with the dubious-sounding penalty decision being the turning point of the match.

“We have to be encouraged by our first half performance, though, but also we have to learn to put away the chances when they arrive. Looking forward to seeing Bingham on his home debut on Tuesday night. COYS!!!”
