Trialists turn out at Tamworth in Stags friendly

A SECOND HALF strike from youth team forward Matt Harris secured a 1-0 win for Mansfield Town away to Tamworth in a game which featured four trialists during a friendly this afternoon.

Former Benfica defender Marco Zoro, who has featured in over 20 international matches for Ivory Coast, started at centre-half alongside Rhys Day.

French striker Youssef Sofiane, once of West Ham United, was also amongst the line up, partnering goalscorer Harris in attack.

Ex Bradford City midfielder Leon Osborne played in central midfield and Argentinean defender Michelli Ezequiel made a second half appearance.

Andy Todd had the chance to put the Stags ahead in the second period but missed a penalty.

However, Mansfield weren’t to be denied their second consecutive friendly win as Matt Harris found the net around the hour mark.

Manager Paul Cox told mansfieldtown.net: “It was a very competitive game. There were seven players in the Tamworth side who played in their recent game against Darlington. I was pleased with our work level.”
