Mansfield Town’s youth team take on Birmingham City Blues at the One Call Stadium today (2pm), admission is free.
The side has enjoyed a terrific season in the Football Conference Youth Alliance (North Division) and sealed second-spot with victory over Harrogate Town last week.
They had a good chance to warm up last night when the club decided to use the youth team to fulfil the reserve league fixture at local rivals Chesterfield last night, where they lost 3-0.
Despite a brave performance from our side, Danny Whitaker opened the scoring for the Spireites with a volley on 53 minutes.
Jacob Hazel then netted a brace for the hosts, who emerged as comfortable winners in front of around 300 supporters at Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium.
