EXPERIENCED defender John Dempster has joined Mansfield Town on a three month loan from League Two promotion hopefuls Crawley Town.
The 28-year-old made 15 appearances last season for the Red Devils in their BSBP-winning season last term.
Dempster was captain of Kettering Town when they stormed to the Conference North title in 2008 and went on to make over 115 appearances for the club.
His first championship medal was with Rushden and Diamonds, his first club, when the Diamonds won promotion from League Two in 2003.
Manager Paul Cox told mansfieldtown.net: “John comes very highly rated and can play in a number of positions. He is an experienced campaigner and his signing will give us various permutations.
“We’ve had to be on the ball to get him on loan, but the squad has needed strengthening for some time now.
“I’ll be looking to add further bodies to the squad before the weekend. At this stage of the season, injuries and suspensions are creeping up on us, as well as fatigue, so it’s important that we add depth to our squad.”
