Stags sign defender Ben Futcher on loan

MANSFIELD Town boss Paul Cox has backed up his midweek promise to add to the Stags squad after the lacklustre start to the season by snapping up experienced centre-half Ben Futcher on a one month loan deal from League One Bury.

And once again fans group The 12th Stag, a group which raises funds to assist manager Paul Cox in the transfer market, have aided a signing, this time with a £2,400 donation.

The giant defender, who stands at 6 ft 7in, has made over 350 Football League appearances in a 12-year-career which started at Oldham Athletic.

The 30-year-old has also enjoyed stints at Oxford, Boston, Grimsby and Peterborough, but is perhaps best known for his days at Lincoln City, where he made over 140 starts, scoring 17 goals.
