Stags fans canvassed over renaming Field Mill

STAGS fans are being asked what they think about renaming the Field Mill stadium.

Chairman and club owner John Radford finally managed to buy the stadium outright from landlord Keith Haslam at the start of this month and last weekend asked supporters their thoughts on naming it after his One Call Insurance company.

He wrote: “As your chairman I need to look to our future. Obviously, the success of my insurance company One Call is the reason why I have been fortunate enough to be able to run our club.

“So, I want to know your thoughts on re-naming the ground to either the One Call Stadium or the One Call Arena?

“This will help secure our future under new league proposals that clubs must run and play in divisions where they have the means to do so. Let me know your thoughts.”

Football has been played on the Field Mill site since the 1861, making it the second oldest football ground in the country (behind Hallam FC). Mansfield Town first started playing matches there in the 1919/20 season.
