STAGS defender Tom Naylor has joined Derby County on loan for six weeks with a view to a permanent move in January.
The 20-year-old, who has been subject to much transfer speculation recently, finally made the move to Pride Park yesterday.
Naylor, a product of Mansfield Town’s highly regarded youth system, played over 20 times for the Stags first team, scoring one goal.
There had been much speculation over Naylor’s future this season with the youngster having trial weeks at Derby, Fulham and Burnley and Stags rejecting below-the-mark bids from Charlton Athletic and Bournemouth.
Manager Paul Cox told www.mansfieldtown.net: “We are really chuffed for Tom. He has been a dream to work with and is an honest boy.
“It’s part and parcel of football for bigger clubs to come after the hot prospects at smaller clubs, and this deal has been good for both parties.
“We’ll be following Tom’s career with great interest and wish him all the very best for the future.”
Tom said: “I’d like to thank everyone at the club who has helped me progress through the ranks - I will always be grateful.
“This is a big opportunity for me and I’m really looking forward to this fresh challenge.
“I will always look out for Mansfield’s results in the future and hope the club can get the success it deserves.”
