Stags’ big cup tie off

MANSFIELD Town’s FA Trophy Quarter-Final at Chasetown will take place on Tuesday after the match was called off due to a waterlogged pitch on Saturday morning.

There was some doubt initially over the venue for the tie in midweek with worries that the local police would object as Chasetown’s ground is in a residential area and large crowds in midweek cause issues with local residents.

However, after talks on Saturday morning with the FA and police, it was confirmed that the tie would be held at Chasetown on Tuesday.

The cup tie switch means that Mansfield’s scheduled BSBP clash with big spending Crawley will have to be rearranged from Tuesday - adding another midweek fixture to the Stags’ already crowded fixture list for the rest of the season.
