Six Stags shown the door

MANSFIELD Town manager Paul Cox has shown six players the door as he began to plan for next season.

Biggest names to go were winger Adam Smith and midfield veteran Jon Worthington, who both failed to command a regular place this season.

There were no surprises on the list with the other four, Matt Bell, Sam Craven, Joe Kendrick and Danny Mitchley, all ending the season out on loan elsewhere.

Ross Dyer, Anthony Howell, Ben Hutchinson, Alan Marriott, Lindon Meikle, Matt Rhead, and Ritchie Sutton have all agreed to sign new deals while Martin Riley, player-coach Andy Todd and Luke O’Neill were reviewing the deals offered to them at close of play last night.

Already under contract for 2012-13 are Paul Bolland, Louis Briscoe, Matt Green, Adam Murray, Gary Roberts, Lee Stevenson and John Thompson.

Keeper Shane Redmond is away on holiday and will hold talks on his return.
