THERE are doubts over Mansfield Town’s game away to Hereford United this evening with a pitch inspection now planned for 2pm.
There was heavy overnight rain which has left puddles on the Edgar Street pitch and more rain is forecast later.
A local referee has already inspected the surface but has left a final decision with the match referee, who is on his way up from Plymouth.
A statement on the Bulls’ web site, said: “An initial inspection has taken place this morning, with the pitch deemed playable at present, based on the current weather conditions, and the course of action that the groundstaff are currently undertaking.
“However, with rain forecast throughout the afternoon problems may occur later.
“The groundstaff are currently working on a few problem areas of the pitch, and will continue to do so throughout the day.”
Mansfield Town have delayed their departure until they hear the result of the 2pm inspection.
