NEW Mansfield Town signing James Jennings was very impressed with his new team mates as he made a fine debut in yesterday’s 5-0 hammering of Dartford.
Set piece specialist Jennings was signed on transfer deadline day on Thursday from Cambridge United and more than played his part in Saturday’s clean sheet as well as taking all the set pieces and getting forward at every opportunity.
He said: “There are a lot of confident lads in the dressing room here and quite a few characters who have been about and played a lot of games. There are some big voices.
“Having that experience helps and I now want to add my experience to that. That was just the result we wanted today.
“It was great to get started and the gaffer asked me in the warm-up if I would take the corners which is fine as I usually have done in the past.
“We didn’t play well in the first half. But we came out the second half blocks well and won all our battles all over the pitch and took our chances.
“That’s what good teams do and it could be one of the key games of the season.
“We were strong and relentless in the second half and we managed to keep them quiet.”
