Mansfield Town further strengthened the centre of their defence for next season when Martin Riley tonight become their fifth summer signing, re-joining the club on a free transfer from Wrexham as months after leaving.
The 26-year-old, who featured on 44 occasions for the Reds last season, was a popular figure during his previous spell at Field Mill in the 2011/12 campaign.
Riley was a formidable member of the defence as the Stags lost to York City in the Play-Offs, after finishing third in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
But the former Wolves trainee then left to join Wrexham last summer, and collected an FA Trophy winners’ medal during his season-long stint in North Wales.
However, Riley was unable to help Andy Morrell’s side win promotion as the Reds agonisingly lost to Newport County in the Conference Play-Off Final.
His arrival follows hot on the heels of the signing of Port Vale centre half John McCombe at the weekend.
