ALAN Marriott is closer to a return from injury than previously thought.
The Stags keeper, who dislocated his shoulder towards the end of September, is now back in non-contact training and working hard.
Manager Paul Cox said he may still bring in a loan keeper as cover for Shane Redmond or even sort a ‘work experience’ for a Premier League youngster in the meantime.
“Alan is back working with the goalkeeping coach and chucking himself about all over like a madman, which is good news,” said Cox.
“He hasn’t done any contact work yet, just technical stuff. But he is diving, jumping and catching which is really positive.
“I would like to get him a behind-closed-doors friendly next week or the week after and see if he is ready to play again.
“But take nothing away from Shane. I thought he was excellent with that he had to do the other night.”
