Mansfield Town’s youth team continued preparations for the new season on Monday evening as they saw off Tevesral’s Under 19 side with a solid 3-0 victory at Carnarvon Street, writes Craig Priest.
Mark Hemingray’s side put in a disciplined performance to dominate the majority of the match and record their sixth victory from seven pre-season matches so far.
Joe Flint put the Stags into a 35th minute lead. The Lively Flint then went close after shooting powerfully beyond the keeper.
Nuha Jabbi was then denied a second goal for Stags from a free kick prior to the break, but did help set Mansfield’s second midway through the second half, laying off Kurtis Turner for a 20 yard thunderbolt after Matty Jones was tripped to the right of the box on 73 minutes.
With Mansfield in a two goal lead, Hemingray withdrew Jordan Villums for Danny Barke, who then netted the third and final goal of the night on 78 minutes. Matty Jones weaved down the right hand side drilling low into the box for Flint, his effort was palmed straight into Barke’s path by the keeper and the youngster made no mistake.
