MANSFIELD TOWN boss Paul Cox has strengthened his squad with the expected signing of former St Mirren winger Nick Hegarty.
The 25-year-old, who has been training with the Stags for the past 10 days, has put pen to paper on a deal which will last until Boxing Day.
Hegarty started his professional career at Grimsby, where he made almost 100 appearances for the Mariners in the Football League, earning two runners-up medals in the Play-Offs and Football League Trophy during the process.
The Wakefield-born winger moved to St Mirren in August 2010, but first team opportunities were hampered by an ankle injury. After signing this morning, Hegarty told www.mansfieldtown.net: “The set up and the training ground are good. It seems a really positive place to be at.
“It has been a good 10 days here [on trial] and I’m now looking forward to getting some game time.”
