MANSFIELD Town are to put deals on the table to former loanee defender John Dempster and midfielder Jamie Hand this week.
Former Crawley centre half Dempster, pictured left, had a highly successful spell on loan at Field Mill last season while Hand caught the eye as skipper of Hayes and Yeading.
However, Stags boss Paul Cox admitted: “We will sit down and talk to both players this week, but there are other clubs talking to them both too.
“I do have a bigger budget than last year and it’s certainly competitive and in the top 10. And I also have the Luke O’Neill transfer money to spend on top.
“But there are other clubs spending a lot of money in this league and I can count four players we have already lost to better deals elesewhere.
“Everyone knows what we would get off ‘Demps’ and he would be a really positive signing. And I think Jamie would give us something different, especially with Adam Murray and Anthony Howell recovering from operations.
“Jamie can do the physical side of the game. He has already raised a few eyebrows in training with one or two of his tackles. But the lad can play too.”
Hand quit Hayes after a row over the size of a club fine - a full week’s wages - for a red card.
