Loan man Daniel Carr hopes to bang in the goals for Mansfield Town and show parent club Huddersfield what he can do.

London-born Carr joined Mansfield Town from the Championship side on Tuesday to plug the gap in Stags’ attacking options following the recent injuries to Ollie Palmer and Matt Rhead.

Carr has seen his chances limited at Huddersfield and has made just two appearances for the Yorkshire club.

But he is now hoping to kick-start his career by hitting the goal trail for Stags.

“Huddersfield are doing well in the league and they have got some good strikers like Grant Holt, so I know it will be hard for me to get into the team,” said Carr.

“It is 10 months since I played my last Football League game and I asked for a loan move.

“I understand the situation, but it is frustrating. I just want to play football.

“I am 20 and this is an important time in my career and I want to kick on now.

“I am thankful that Mansfield Town has given me this chance. I want to play football week in week out and show people what I can do.

“Obviously I do not want people to get injured, but the injury situation at the club means I will have more chance to play.

“I want to get goals because that is what I am judged on.”

The former Dulwich Hamlet striker spent part of last season on loan at Fleetwood Town and scored his first ever Football League goal in a 3-1 win against Accrington on 1st January.

Carr, who bagged 23 goals during 37 games for Dulwich, added: “Playing at Fleetwood was a great experience and I got my first goal there, hopefully I can have a similar experience with Mansfield.

“When I was at Dulwich I knew I would get a club if I kept scoring. I have a two year deal with Huddersfield, but I want to get some Football League experience now and get games under my belt.”
