Mansfield Town nostalgia: “I skipped school to watch Stags’ reserves v Fulham in April 1963”

.
.

I left school in April 1963 and, on my last day at school, I decided to give it a miss to go to watch Mansfield Town reserves play Fulham, writes Geoff Edwards.

Fulham were a good side in the First Division in those days and had a number of famous players.

One particular player was Graham Legget, a Scottish international who was having a run out with the reserves after coming back from injury.

If memory serves me I believe the score was 1-1 and he scored a penalty.

Incidentally the kick off was 2.15pm on that Wednesday afternoon. I don’t think Mansfield had floodlights.
