MANSFIELD TOWN goalkeeper Shane Redmond has extended his stay with the Stags for a further season.

The 23-year-old shot stopper played understudy to Alan Marriott for most of last season and made just one start in between the sticks on the last day of the campaign at Kidderminster Harriers.

Meanwhile, Stags’ manager Paul Cox is still waiting to hear from defender Martin Riley after offering him a new contract.

Said Cox: “He (Riley) has just returned from holiday so I’ll be sitting down with ‘Riles’ at some point to see where we go from here.”

Riley is now the only outstanding player from last season whom the manager is waiting to sign, after midfielder Andy Todd penned a new contract yesterday which will see him take charge of the reserve team next season in his role as player-coach.

In other news, Conference North outfit Gainsborough Trinity have been added to the club’s pre-season fixture schedule, with the Stags’ match away to the Lincolnshire club taking place on Friday 20 July with kick off at 7.45pm.
