DEFENDER John Thompson is recovering at home following a successs operation to re-set his nose on Monday.
The former Nottingham Forest defender suffered a broken nose and was left needing more than 40 stitches after he was sent clattering into metal fencing surrounding the pitch by home player-coach Gary Ricketts.
It is hoped the Irishman will now be back playing within four to six weeks.
Boss Paul Cox said: “I spoke to him on the phone, he has bandages on and is sore at the moment.
“He is still really positive and rings the lads up wishing them well before games.
“He is like any player who is out, he just wants to get back and playing again as soon as possible.
“I am not going to set a date and rush John back too soon. Sometimes you can do more damage than good bringing a player back too early.
“It is going to be a long season ahead and we will not rush his recovery.”
