England U18s see off Italy at the One Call Stadium

THE next generation of England footballers completed a superb Italian job with a 2-0 win over the Azzurri in a prestigious U18 friendly at Mansfield Town’s One Call Stadium last night.

A crowd of 5,405 supporters, saw Everton’s Christopher Long fire Noel Blake’s Three Lions ahead after only three minutes, before Manchester City’s Devante Cole, son of former England star Andy, doubled the advantage after the interval on 66 minutes after good work by Manchester United starlet James Weir.

But, the result could have been much different had the Italians not wasted a number of gilt-edged chances on the night.

It was the first international football in town since Norway U17s played Armenia at Field Mill eight years ago.
