Mansfield Town winger Lindon Meikle has been named in the England C squad for the upcoming friendly against Belgium.
The 24-year-old, who has already won two caps at international level, has enjoyed a fine start to the season and scored a brace against Kidderminster Harriers to help the Stags record their first victory of the campaign.
Meikle’s last England call-up came three months ago when he was a member of the squad that suffered a heavy defeat against Russia at the Arena Khimki in Moscow. Manager Paul Cox was delighted for Meikle when he heard of the news earlier this week.
“The kid is just getting better and better and I feel a certain amount of pride as I have had him since he was 16.
“Everyone can see he has blossomed into a good footballer but also quite a remarkable young man to be honest.
“His ethics going into a match are out of this world. It’s not just his skill, it’s his work ethic and mindset. I hope he goes on to massive things. If anyone deserves that it’s Lindon.”
The clash against Belgium is due to take place at the Gemeentelijk Sportstadion in Zaventem on Wednesday 12th September.
