Mansfield Town v Lincoln City FA Cup tie to attract global television audience
MANSFIELD Town fans around the world will be watching to see if their heroes can set up a mouth-watering FA Cup clash with Liverpool tonight as the club’s second round replay with Lincoln attracts a global tv audience.
Sports channels around the world will broadcast coverage of Mansfield Town v Lincoln from the One Call Stadium tonight, with the game being shown as far away as New Zealand and America.
Stags fan Mark Cooke, who is originally from Teversal, said: “I am a lifelong Stags fan who has been living in New Zealand for 10 years now. I follow the Stags pretty much daily through the media and when I heard the game was to be screened live on ESPN I checked the TV guide and was blown away to see that we are getting the game live here as well.
“I can’t believe it. I will be sat here with my old Stags shirt on eating my breakfast as it will be Thursday morning for us in summer time, whilst my best mate will be at the game freezing his socks off.
“It will be great to see the lads play again after all these years and if they get through to face Liverpool that will be another game to look forward to watching.”
Mansfield Town say they are hopeful that the game will beat the freezing temperatures and go ahead.
Yesterday the One Call Stadium pitch was under covers, while broadcasters ESPN also paid for an £80,000 heating system to be used to keep the pitch playable.
